2010: Magical Realism: Exploring narrative lines in similar yet different way.

What has become apparent during these first few months is that the whimsical side of my personality has surged to the forefront and taken my work in a new narrative direction. To use a literary term, these new paintings are an exploration into the realm of magical realism.
 
Glimpses of magical realism have been evident in the backgrounds of many of my painting over the past five years. In those instances magical realism was used to flavor the juxtaposition of the main thematic line: adding tension, hinting at madness, or question the laws of physics as we understand them.

Top achieve this shift, I am mixing medias more then I have in previous years. Merging charcoal, graphite, pastel, and acrylics with my first love: Ink (painted with a brush), as well as incorporating the written word.

This is an exciting journey, I trust you will find it equally fascinating.
