She stares into a land turned bleak,
unable to grasp the knowledge,
she is sure was once there,
unable to recognize
that her identity has peeled away...

That the idea of self-determination
has been relegated to shelved books
containing the names of great thinkers,
books which have all been burned
their ash scattered upon the wind.

A wind whose days of whistling
through flora and fauna,
of lifting birds to great hights
or carving its’ name through
the moving sands of the Gobi
.... has all been lost.
